What rhymes with orange? It’s time for annual poetry contest

If you’re a poet and you know it, then show it during National Poetry Month in April.

The East Lake County Library is holding its 17th annual Poetry Contest. The deadline for entries is May 3, according to a news release. The contest is open to all ages in three age groups: children up to 12; teens 13-18; and adults 19 and older. Books-A-Million gift certificates of $50, $25, and $15 will be awarded to the top three winners in each age group.

Entries may be on any topic and in any style of writing. Each poem should be on one page of 8½-by-11-inch paper, preferably typed and without the poet’s name on the front of the poem. Hard copies should have name and age group on the back of the poem.

There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted by one person, and one form can be submitted for multiple poems.

Entry forms are available at all Lake County libraries and at Forms can be submitted online, by fax at 352.383.9982, or in person or by mail to East Lake County Library, 31340 S. County Road 437, Sorrento, FL 32776.
