You’ll be a-MAZE-d at the story of America’s farmers when the 6.5-acre cornfield adventure gets underway at Scott’s Maze Adventures at Long & Scott Farms in Mount Dora.
It’s happening now through Dec. 9, the 16th annual Cornfield Maze Adventure is meant to raise awareness about the local farmer. This year’s theme is “Advocating for Agriculture” and what better way to do it than follow a maze through 10-foot tall corn fields, marveling at what it takes to feed America.
“Our goal at the farm is to provide top-notch educational opportunities to individuals, families, and groups while they are entertained,” says Rebecca Tyndall, manager of AgriTourism for the 1,200-acre Long & Scott Farms.
There are two maze patterns this year. The larger maze covers 6.5 acres and is cut into different designs. The smaller maze is shaped in the memory of the farm’s head farmer, Frank D. Scott, Jr., and is a cutout of his old pickup truck which he brought down from Virginia in 1963.
“Besides the mazes, we offer a 25-minute tractor-pulled Hay Ride through the farm,” Rebecca said. “We also have a covered picnic area, a Super Slide, an extremely large playground, Jumping Pillow, and many fall farm photo opportunities for children and families.”
