Sweethearts and scholarships: Villages show benefits iSparkle

Guests at an upcoming Villages show can enjoy an evening of glamour and dancing with their sweethearts while also spreading some love to an anti-bullying program.

The Sweetheart Dance, featuring swing, waltz, cha-cha, and shuffle music, is scheduled from 7-9pm Saturday, Feb. 24, at Colony Cottage Recreation Center, 510 Colony Blvd., The Villages.

Performers include singers Petrina and Dodie Fisher fronting the big-band sound of the Savoys. You don’t have to be a dancer to enjoy the music from the 11-piece band or watch the moves of some wonderful dancers on the floor. Smart and formal dress is encouraged but not mandatory for guests.

Tickets cost $27 and the event is BYOB, bring your own banquet.

For seating and tickets, contact Rosemary Ahrens at 352.205.4892 or sparkleteamcoord@gmail.com.

ISPARKLE SCHOLARSHIP

One dollar of every ticket sold goes to the iSparkle scholarship fund. Petrina co-founded iSparkle, which stands for inclusion, support, protect, act, respect, kindness, lift spirits, and encourage. Scholarship funds are awarded to candidates who help create atmospheres of inclusion for their peers.

Any qualified U.S. high school senior related to a Villages homeowner may apply through the end of March for $2,000 in scholarship money. Go to petrina.biz/isparkle.html for more information.
