Students, parents can determine 2020-21 calendar for Lake Schools

Students of every Lake County school, including Lake Minneola High School, pictured above, will have an opportunity to participate in a public survey to determine the 2020-2021 school calendar.

What does the 2020-2021 student calendar look like for Lake County Schools?

You have a say in the matter. The district’s calendar committee has developed two student calendar options. All parents, students and other stakeholders are invited to participate in a public survey to let the School Board know which of the new options is most preferred.

The survey opened at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and it will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.

Employees voted separately in an early version of the survey. The options have some distinct differences:

Option 1 has an earlier start date of Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, with Friday, September 4, and Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 (Veterans Day) as days when students do not attend school. They would return after Winter Break on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021.

Option 2 has a later start date of Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, with Friday, September 4, and Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 (Veterans Day) as days when students attend school. They would return from Winter Break on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

The survey link is available on the home page of the district’s web site at www.lake.k12.fl.us and on the district’s Facebook and Twitter page.
