A Spurs and Sparkles fundraiser with a country theme, barbecue foods, and entertainment is being planned to benefit Hand-in-Hand ministries of Ruth House and His Powerhouse.
The Oct. 22 benefit at Lake Receptions in Mount Dora will kick off 5 p.m. with a reception for sponsors, followed by the main event running 6 to 10 p.m.
“This is the first time for Spurs and Sparkles,” says Dondi Cote, who is coordinating sponsors for the event.
The adult fundraiser will feature music from the Randall Crawford Band, carnival games, and sketch artist John Powers in action. A Michael Ray signed guitar will be auctioned, and the “General Lee” from the TV show, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” will be on display.
The food will be southern favorites — barbecue ribs, chicken and all of the fixings, and guests are invited to dress in a country theme.
Hand-in-Hand Ministries is the umbrella organization for Ruth House, a Umatilla shelter for women and children in crisis, while His Powerhouse has two Eustis locations and provides men’s transitional housing for rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol in a year-long program.
Tickets for Spurs and Sparkles is $75 per person.
Adesso and Sons Drywall is serving as the main event sponsor. Other organization interested in being Spurs and Sparkles sponsors may call Dondi Cote at 352.455.1727, or call Rebecca Randall, executive director of Ruth House, at 352.455.3021 for information about the event.
