A good way to kick off the spring season is by loading up your car or truck with some beautiful plants.

Visitors can enjoy a morning of shopping for Florida-friendly and unusual plants at the annual Master Gardener Plant Sale from 8am-noon Saturday, March 23, at the Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. Bring check or cash; credit cards are not accepted. For ease of shopping, bring a cart or borrow one of ours.

With more than 3,000 plants to choose from, the event offers a wide variety of perennials, annuals, natives, butterfly plants, vegetables, and herbs, a news release states.

Proceeds supplement Discovery Gardens, educational events, and the Master Gardener Volunteer Program at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Lake County Extension.
