Shannon McLin Carlyle Receives Award

Shannon McLin Carlyle, B.C.S., was honored as the statewide appellate advocate recipient of the Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Program’s “Excellence in Advocacy” award.

This special award recognizes champions for special needs children who are abused or neglected. The GAL Program picks one lawyer from each circuit and one statewide winner in appellate advocacy Shannon was selected as the appellate advocate because of her volunteer contribution to the Defending Best Interest Project that is spearheaded by The Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Section. She contributed more than 100 hours representing the GAL Program in appeals through Florida.

Shannon founded The Carlyle Appellate Law Firm and is a co-founder of The Florida Appellate Alliance. She was originally a staff attorney at Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal. Among her contributions to her community is serving as an executive member at First Green Bank, Inc. and as vice president of Habitat for Humanity of Lake County, Inc. while on the organization’s board. She was also recognized among the Top 50 Women Lawyers.

She serves on the board of directors of the Hans and Cay Jacobsen Foundation and the Villages Charter School Buffalo Scholarship Foundation. She was a member of Leadership Lake County where she served as president of the Class of 2001.
