Santa Arrives Early in Clermont

Santa-handing-out-toys-for-Toys-for-Tots.Christmas is all about giving, and the Marine Corps League and Clermont Fire Department thought Santa might need a little extra early help. Santa gave out items collected through the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program earlier this week in South Lake County at Clermont Fire Station No. 1 on U.S. Highway 50.

The partnership between the Clermont Fire Department and the Marine Corps League provided toys for about 250 families in the area—50 families more than last year!

“The City of Clermont champions giving back,” City Manager Darren Gray says. “This is one of many ways that we are happy to partner with the community and help out during the holidays.”

This is the fourth year the fire department has worked the Marine Corps League, collecting toys at all four fire stations and then serving as the distribution center. Previously, area families traveled to Leesburg for pickup.

There were teddy bears, plastic fire hats, dolls, action figures—oh my! Many trunks were secretly filled so there will be joy in Clermont Christmas morning.
