In addition to the Golden Triangle train rides operating Wednesday through Sunday, the Royal Palm Railway Experience has planned two special events for the month of February.

The Royal Palm will take travelers to “Bourbon Street” in New Orleans for an all-ages, family-friendly Mardi Gras show, according to a news release. Passengers will be engulfed in the dazzle of colors and the sounds of the Mardi Gras spirit. Dates for the rides are Feb. 9-11, 13, 16-18, and 23-25.

Enjoy an evening out with your valentine Feb. 14. Boarding begins at 6pm at Tavares Union Station, with cocktails and music to enjoy on the train. The train will depart at 6:30pm for Mount Dora for a fine dining experience catered by Pisces Rising Restaurant. Serving will begin at 7:15pm; the return trip to Tavares will depart at 8:30pm and arrive around 9pm. Price per couple is $140.

On Saturdays, the train becomes the Royal Pizza Express. Passengers can enjoy pizza prepared by Mount Dora Pizza and Subs while traveling the Golden Triangle route between Tavares, Mount Dora, and Eustis. The train departs Tavares at 12:30pm and 2:55pm.

The railway also has teamed up with other local businesses to create an unforgettable way to experience the Harris Chain of Lakes by land, air, and water, the release states. Travelers take a 1.5-hour boat cruise through the Dora Canal with Premier Boat Cruises, disembark at the Tavares Seaplane Base for a 15-minute seaplane flight and about an hour to eat or to enjoy Wooton Park, followed by a 30-minute train ride aboard the Royal Palm along Lakeshore Drive and back to Mount Dora.
