Residents affected by COVID-19 may apply for rent, mortgage relief

Lake County is accepting applications for Phase 2 of the Lake CARES Resident Assistance Grant Program. Applications will be accepted through 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30. The program is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and residents who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 are encouraged to apply.

On Sept. 29, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners voted to allocate $15 million in CARES Act funding for resident assistance. Eligible Lake County residents may receive up to $4,000 in rent or mortgage assistance as reimbursement of funds already expended or as a direct payment to a landlord or lender for past due balances; past due rent or mortgage is not a requirement for eligibility.

The Phase 2 application has been optimized to streamline the process. Applicants are encouraged to do the following prior to completing the application:

Read the Frequently Asked Questions.
