Public can weigh in on proposed performing arts center in Tavares

“America’s Seaplane City” is taking off on a new cultural project.

The city of Tavares is hosting a public workshop to gather input on a proposed performing arts center. The meeting is scheduled from 5-8pm Thursday, Nov. 1, at Tavares Pavilion on the Lake, 200 S. Disston Ave.

City administrators want to hear ideas and opinions about where the center might be built, how large it should be, what it would look and feel like, and the type of programming, among other questions. Additionally, residents also will be able to share their thoughts about the growing Tavares Public Library. One or more City Council members also may be in attendance, according to a news release.
