The dragons are coming. The 2019 Dragonfest will not only feature dragon boat races, but also a musical lineup, a car show, family games, food and beverages, and a 50/50 raffle.
The daylong Dragonfest is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, at Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby St., on the shores of Lake Dora in Tavares. The free event is presented by the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle. Spectators are urged to bring their own chairs.
The dragon boat races, which start at 8:30am, will consist of 10- and 20-person teams representing clubs, schools, and the community.
Parmalee headlines the musical entertainment with a performance at 7pm. The band’s 2013 breakout single, “Carolina,” became a platinum-certified No. 1 hit, while its debut album landed in the top 10, according to a news release. In addition, the Chauffers will play 1950s and ’60s dance music from 11am-2pm; and the Copper Canyon Renegades will perform a mix of country and rock from 2-4pm.
Cars will be on display from 10am-3pm, with registration at 9:30am and dash plaques for the first 50 cars.
