October Pink Out at Florida Hospital Waterman

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Florida Hospital Waterman is going all pink in celebration and information. These activities and educational events are meant to encourage the community to get involved and take action. With these great events coming to promote and create breast cancer awareness, FHW is pulling out all the stops. Proceeds will help support mammograms for women who can’t afford them.

“Pink Out!” events continue through October:

Pinking Ceremony  Thursday, Sept. 27     4:30-6:30pm Florida Hospital Waterman Atrium

The hospital’s signature fountain will be tinted pink, and the famous canopy will be the same shade. A community celebration featuring health education and resources with community partners and free goodies. Bring a new bra for donation to Haven of Lake and Sumter Counties, Inc. Ask the Experts                       Tuesday, Oct. 9           1-2pm Comfort Inn & Suites, Tavares

Join Borys Mascarenhas, MD, board-certified breast cancer surgeon, and Peter Marzek, MD,FACS, board-certified plastic surgeon for a discussion on the newest research into causes of breast cancer, minimizing your risks, and what to expect if diagnosed.

Please join Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation for a day of food, fun, and friendship at the 5th annual Ladies Legacy Luncheon. This year, former Miss Florida, and cancer survivor, Kristin Beall Ludeke, will share her inspiring story.

Pink Out! 5K Walk/Run           Thursday, Oct. 18                    6pm Downtown Tavares

The 5th Annual Pink Out 5K Run/Walk will be held at Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby St., Tavares. Proceeds help promote breast cancer awareness, diagnosis and treatment including mammograms for women in need. To register, or for more information, visit: FHWatermanPink.com
