Nominate a special Lake County woman for the hall of fame

lake-county-logoIt’s been said the best man for a job is a woman. That’s often been the case in Lake County, where dozens of women distinguished themselves through outstanding professional achievements and made significant community contributions through volunteerism.

You likely know one of these women. And if you do, you have until tomorrow to nominate her into the Lake County Women’s Hall of Fame. Nominees must have made significant contributions to the improvement of life for Lake County citizens in the fields of art, agriculture, athletics, business, community service, environment, government, health care, humanities, philanthropy, science or education.

Former Lake County Commissioner Catherine Hanson formed the Lake County Women’s Hall of Fame in 1994.

To be eligible, applicants must have been born in or have adopted Lake County as their home for at least 10 years. Nominees may be living or deceased. Nomination forms are available at www.lakecountyfl.gov/whof or inside room 316 of the Lake County Administration Building in downtown Tavares.
