No rehearsals? No problem: Studio Theatre presents experimental play

A summer production at The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol comes with no rehearsals, no director, no set, and no two performances that are the same.

In April, the theater will stage Nassim Soleimanpour’s play, “White Rabbit Red Rabbit,” winner of the Dublin Fringe Festival Best New Performance Award (2012), Summerworks Outstanding New Performance Text Award (2011), and the Arches Brick Award, Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2011), according to a news release.

With no rehearsal, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, the play is an audacious theatrical experiment for both the actors and the audience.

The cast includes: Whitney Morse (April 29 performance), Lon Ward Abrams (May 6), and Meghan Moroney (May 13). Whitney also is the artistic director, and Jason Goedken is the producer.

Tickets priced at $25 for general admission in the small black-box theater go on sale Tuesday, March 6, at or by calling 352.751.7799. The theater is at 806 San Marino Drive, The Villages.

Since its premiere in 2011, “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” has been translated into more than 25 languages and performed more than 1,000 times by actors including John Hurt, Nathan Lane, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke, Dominic West, and film director Ken Loach, the release states.
