New tag office

Kudos to Lake County Tax Collector Bob McKee for taking the hassle out of titling cars, renewing license plates and registering vehicles.
I recently visited the brand spankin’ new Tax Collector’s office in the old Golden Corral building in Leesburg and I have to say I was totally impressed by the modern building and the organized way business is being done.
You’ll notice the improvements the moment you walk in the door.
A receptionist will politely welcome you, ascertain your needs and give you a ticket with a letter and a number on it.
The letter relates to your need — title, tag, registration, etc. — while the number designates your place in line. You can then track your position in line on video monitors in a spacious, neat lobby stocked with plenty of reading materials.
And the office is well staff. There were probably 15 clerks on duty when I visited.
I was in and out in less than 15 minutes, which is probably a record for me.
Hats off to McKee’s staff for being efficient, professional and well organized.
I never thought I’d say this, but I actually enjoyed my visit to the license branch … so much so that I treated myself to an ice cream at Sonic, which is on the other side of the parking lot. You know what they say — location, location, location!
