According to a recent press release, the city of Mount Dora received a safety award from the Florida Electric Association (FEMA) for their efforts at safety on the job during the past year.
For more than 30 years, FMEA has recognized Florida’s public power utilities who have stressed public safety in their work. The work is judged on categories defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The city of Mount Dora had no reported accidents on the job in category A, which is utilities that work up 59,999 man hours. This reflects on the city’s commitment to safety for workers while providing reliable service to consumers.
Employees of Mount Dora’s electrical utility recently provided aid to those in Puerto Rico who were without power following the devastation of Hurrican Irma. The lineman pictured above impressed the school children so much that the kids wrote them thank-you notes.
