Leesburg students celebrating successful school year

Leesburg High School is ending its school year with a party, and everyone is invited.

The Leesburg High Community Pep Rally, a celebration of student success, is scheduled for 6pm Tuesday, May 8, at Towne Square outside City Hall, 510 W. Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

The event will honor student accomplishments in areas including performing arts, academics, athletics, and volunteering, a news release states.

Among the groups receiving recognition will be the boys basketball Class 6A back-to-back state champions, the high school band, Jefferson Award winners, and members of the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, and the Student Government Association.

“The high school decided to recognize all of our students in this format to spread positivity for our school throughout our community,” Leesburg High principal Michael Randolph says in the release. “We had such a successful turnout during our homecoming parade and pep rally at City Hall that we wanted to replicate that experience for our community. Our pep rally will be a showcase of our students’ achievements this year.”
