Several community organizations in Leesburg are making Thanksgiving week extra special for local families.

The Leesburg Resource Center, the West Leesburg Community Development Corp., Kitch’n Lyfe Skills Inc., local chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Kappa Alpha Psi, and generous Lake County residents have come together to help deserving families receive Thanksgiving baskets. The holiday baskets will be filled with a turkey and all the trimmings, enough for every individual in each family, a news release states. The families that will receive the food baskets have been identified and notified.

“Because we worked together as a community and joined forces, we were able to collectively supply 30 families with over 150 meals,” chef Ze’ Carter, director and founder of Kitch’n Lyfe Skills, says in the release.

Volunteers are needed to help hand out the baskets Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Leesburg Resource Center, 1041 County Road 468, Leesburg. Anyone interested in helping can contact Cassandra Cunningham, of the West Leesburg Community Development Corp., at 352.365.0947.
