Those interested in competing need to register by Nov. 2 by calling 728-0033. Participants are to cook 14 gallons worth of chili, and they can start cooking after the chefs’ meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Leesburg Town Square on Main Street, in front of Leesburg City Hall.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the public to begin sampling chili at 5 p.m., and the public can participate in the judging by voting for the People’s Choice award for their favorite chili. First, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded by the public’s vote, and there will also be a Judges Choice award for the best overall chili. A prize will also be awarded for the best decorated booth.
Beer, wine, and soda will be available for purchase.
Sponsored by the Downtown Leesburg Business Association, Jenkins Auto Group, Leesburg Partnership, and DoggiBags Boutique, the event will also feature The Accused providing entertainment. Tickets are $10 at the door.
