The city of Leesburg continues to check off its list of improvements in transforming Venetian Gardens into a jewel of Lake County.
The public is invited to attend the city’s ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of improvements at Ski Beach in Venetian Gardens, a news release states. The event is scheduled for 1pm Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the park south of Dixie Avenue and Canal Street.
The Ski Beach project includes many enhancements to expand and promote this passive recreational area: a walking trail, beach area, decorative fencing, historic lighting, landscaping, restrooms, and a boat ramp.
The ceremony marks a major milestone in the city’s efforts to bring new life to the park, because Phases I and II of the Venetian Gardens Master Plan are now complete.
The City Commission approved the master plan after holding several workshops and receiving input from Leesburg residents, the release states. Phases I and II encompass the Kids Korner playground, Rogers Park splash pad, and Ski Beach improvements. Phase III is underway and includes the beautification of the grounds around Dozier Circle, a waterfront restaurant pad, and a new community center.
