LakeXpress offering special stops during Leesburg Bikefest weekend

To see the bikes, take the bus.

That’s the message from Lake County Public Transit, which is encouraging Leesburg Bikefest revelers to safely travel to and from the three-day festival by bus.

LakeXpress, the county’s fixed-route public transit service, is offering 160 special stops throughout Leesburg, Fruitland Park, The Villages, Mount Dora, Eustis, and Tavares during the 22nd annual Bikefest from April 27-29, a news release states.

Bikefest is contained within a 30-block radius, and Leesburg’s streets are pedestrian- and bike-friendly and walkable within 10 minutes. For details and a schedule of events, visit leesburgbikefest.com.

Passengers can catch the bus at any of the designated stops along the LakeXpress Villages, Eustis, and Tavares/Mount Dora shuttles, or ride the Gator Harley-Davidson express shuttle, which will run every 20 minutes from downtown Leesburg to Gator Harley at 1745 U.S. Highway 441. All shuttles will run until at least 3am during Bikefest. A map and full schedule is available at ridelakexpress.com.
