Lake Tech offers ‘amazing’ scholarship opportunity for essential workers

Lake Technical College in Eustis is partnering with Lake County to provide “Elevate to Essential” scholarships to students enrolling for the spring 2021 term.

“If you have lost your job due to COVID-19, are underemployed due to coronavirus, or are seeking new training due to this pandemic, the time is now to take advantage of this amazing scholarship opportunity,” Dr. Diane Culpepper, executive director of the college, says in a news release, adding students may be eligible for up to 80 percent of the tuition and fees for any program at the college.

“Are you seeking a career with competitive wages and a definite career path to further your education? Are you looking for a career where your specific skills are critical for our region’s economic growth? This year, more than ever, our community needs skilled workers to meet the needs in our area. If you’re ready to become an essential worker, Lake Technical College is here for you,” adds Dr. Culpepper in the release. “Elevate to Essential! Make that your early 2021 resolution.”

Most classes start on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. Seats are limited in every program, so interested individuals should complete the online application at and then stop by to see the career advisor to complete the enrollment process soon. The college’s office hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, except during holidays.
