The Lake County Animal Shelter, the Lake County Extension Center and Discovery Gardens, and all 15 Lake County libraries also will be closed for the holiday.
LakeXpress, the fixed-route bus system, will not operate on Memorial Day. Lake County Connection, the county’s transportation service for disadvantaged citizens, will provide dialysis service only on the holiday.
Lake County Solid Waste operations, including residential collection services, customer service, the Central Landfill Facility and residential drop-offs, will be closed Monday.
Residential collections for citizens living in unincorporated Lake County (not within municipal city limits) will shift to the following day. For example, Monday collection will be moved to Tuesday during the holiday week, and so on for the entire week.
For residents in communities with twice-per-week garbage collection, pickup will occur one day later for each of the two pickups. Any excess trash, either bagged or placed in a non-county trash cart, will be accepted during the holiday week only between May 30 and June 3. No hazardous waste items will be collected.
Municipalities in Lake also will close government offices, facilities, and libraries Monday and resume regular operations Tuesday. Check city websites for complete information.
