The president of South Lake Hospital recently was honored for his years of service on the Lake Emergency Medical Services Board of Directors.

John Moore has served on the board for seven years and has been instrumental in helping to advance Lake EMS’ role within the community to provide quality emergency medical care to the citizens of Lake County, according to a news release.

The nine-member board is headed by Chairman Tim Sullivan, who also is a Lake County commissioner. Jerry Smith serves as Lake EMS executive director, with administrative offices located at 2761 W. Old Highway 441 in Mount Dora. South Lake Hospital’s main campus is in Clermont.

Lake EMS is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2011 by Lake County to provide quality, community-based services. The agency operates 22 advanced life support units at peak operation, dynamically deployed throughout the county.

The Lake EMS Communications Center is dually accredited as an Emergency Medical Dispatch and Emergency Fire Dispatch Center of Excellence. It is co-located with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in the Emergency Communications and Operations Center in Tavares, the release states.
