For grownups and kids: Halloween party supports STEM school

grown-up-halloween-fundraiser-flierA new downtown Leesburg event promises a scary good time as well as an opportunity to support education.

The first annual Grown Up Halloween fundraiser party and auction will benefit Lake County’s new K-5 STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) school, Create Conservatory. The event is scheduled at 6pm Saturday, Oct. 19, at Starlight Ballroom, 414 W. Main St., Leesburg. Tickets, which include dinner, drink and dessert, cost $40 and are available through A cash bar also will be available.

Guests are encouraged to dress in costume for an evening of contests, prizes, music and more, according to the event flier. Live entertainment will be provided by Donna J, aka “The Lady in Black.”

The costume contest has a grand prize of a trip for two to New York City, with roundtrip airfare and two nights in a hotel. Auction items will include a stay at the Grandview B&B, theater and movie tickets, gift cards, artwork and gift baskets, among others.
