Shake off the rainstorm doldrums today and come alive. Downtown Clermont’s nightlife is ramping up.

Starting Aug. 1, the city’s shopping district will be Alive After 5 every Thursday afternoon, courtesy of the Clermont Downtown Partnership with the support of the city of Clermont, a news release states.

Residents and visitors can shop at participating locally owned stores each Thursday evening until 8pm or later and enjoy special events, vendors, sales, and more. Today, DJ T. Scott Walker will play outside Corelli’s Pantry, 732 W. Montrose St. Enter for door prizes at participating stores and listen for the DJ’s announcements of the winners between 7-8pm.

Bacchus Vino Etcetera will kick off its weekly Don’t Be Thirsty Thursdays with free wine tastings from 6-8pm. This evening, sauvignon blancs will be featured at the shop, 692 W. Montrose St., Suite D.

“Downtown Clermont has so much to offer,” City Manager Darren Gray says in the release. “We hope everyone will come out on Thursday evenings to enjoy Alive After 5 and support their local businesses. We have some great new shops, breweries, and restaurants.”

Suncreek Brewery, 790 W. Minneola Ave., and Clermont Brewing Co., 750 W. DeSoto St., are offering 10 percent off the entire check every Thursday night when a customer presents a receipt from that same Thursday night from a downtown retail (non-food/beverage) merchant.

The downtown area includes gift stores, clothing shops, athletic stores, a fishing shop, a tea room, a wine shop, dining options including Italian, Mexican and American fare, as well as a frozen yogurt shop, a dolceria, and a smoothie and coffee stop. Entertainment includes a community theater, an art gallery, festivals, Sunday farmers’ markets, monthly First Friday Food Truck nights, and monthly wine walks.

“The Clermont Downtown Partnership is excited to offer another opportunity to the community with our Thursday evening Alive After 5 event,” says partnership President Erika Shanoff, owner of Erika’s Tea Room and the Great Floridian Marketplace.
