The 36th annual Light Up Mount Dora is scheduled for 5pm Saturday, Nov. 25, at Donnelly Park on Donnelly Street.
The ceremony is a free event with the lighting scheduled for 6:30pm. Everyone is invited to see the lighting of Donnelly Park and downtown Mount Dora, a spectacular show of more than 2 million lights, Christmas songs, dancers, and more. Food trucks from Kona Dog, Willy T’s Crab Shack, Barnwood BBQ, and French Fry Junction will be onsite. The city of Mount Dora and the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce are sponsors.
During the Festival of Trees, the Grand Oaks Resort will be transformed into a winter wonderland of decorated trees and wreaths on display each evening. The free charity event runs 4-8pm daily from Wednesday, Nov. 29, through Saturday, Dec. 2, at Grand Oaks Resort, 3000 Marion County Road, Lady Lake.
Holiday music, refreshments, and nightly activities will make this a fun and festive event. Donation-based carriage rides (Thursday-Saturday), a restaurant and warm-up bar, a visit from Santa Claus, and an auction on Dec. 2 also are part of the lineup. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite trees and wreaths.
The 29th annual Light Up Clermont is a free holiday tradition that includes the community tree-lighting ceremony, an old-fashioned Christmas parade through downtown, music, food, crafts, and an inspirational Lessons & Carols Concert by students of Montverde Academy at the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center, 3700 U.S. Highway 27.
