Free golf for veterans set Nov. 11 at Mount Dora Golf Club

A “Salute to Veterans” golf outing will be hosted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Mount Dora Golf Club, 1100 S. Highland St., Mount Dora, and it’s being co-hosted by the Mount Dora Golf Association, American Legion Post 35, Habitat for Humanity Lake-Sumter, Florida and Accessible Homes of Florida.

The Mount Dora Golf Association (MDGA) is giving veterans, with proof of their veteran status, free golf with cart. Veterans must reserve tee time for the day by calling 352.383.3954.

Other golfers may also play.

“We are taking donations that will be split 50/50 between the American Legion Post 35 and Habitat for Humanity Lake-Sumter, Florida,” says Jacob Albright, director of golf club operations for MDGA, adding there will also be a salute ceremony with special guests at 11 a.m. in front of the American Legion.

Jacob also notes there will be a Veteran’s Boulevard during the event that will feature veteran information, resources and prizes at different tents. Vendors will be on hand between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food and drinks will also be available at either the American Legion or Mount Dora Golf Association.
