Florida Hospital Waterman (soon to be AdventHealth Waterman) is getting ready to deliver a baby of its own.
Groundbreaking for a 22,260-square foot medical plaza in Mount Dora takes place in December and in nine months, a beautiful facility will be born.
Opening in September 2019, the $13 million medical plaza is the first of its kind in North Lake County and provides a convenient model for delivery of primary care, housing eight primary care physicians.
Located at 19735 U.S. Highway 441 near the intersection of Wolfbranch Road, the two-story building features an efficient design with an option to expand for additional services in the future.
“Building on our legacy of high-quality health care, we are grateful to have the opportunity to expand and serve,” said Abel Biri, the chief executive officer at Florida Hospital Waterman, who also said many locals were considered in the Golden Triangle, but this one in Mount Dora had a true need.
“We are confident this new medical plaza will give the surrounding residents increased access to excellent healthcare services,” he continued.
Besides primary health care, the new medical plaza is a convenient model for easy scheduling of appointments, walk-in availability, and extended office hours. Care coordination resources will also be able to provide patients with complete health assistance and services.
“We have recruited new physicians to the area and are currently expanding our emergency department,” the CEO said. “This new investment will afford us another opportunity to care for our community at every stage of life, in every stage of health, and build on our continued commitment to serving the growing needs of our community.”
A groundbreaking is planned for December with construction beginning in January. The architect is Gresham Smith and main contractor is Robins & Morton.
