Leesburg’s private Christian school, First Academy, is developing plans for a $4.8 million expansion. The current concept covers 34,000 feet and includes a gym, a weight room, locker rooms, a stage, a large science lab, a large art room, seven classrooms, and additional office space. This will replace an existing building on the campus and will likely not require any extra asphalting.
With an increase in enrollment, this project is imperative since 410 students were enrolled last year, and 437 students are scheduled to attend classes for the 2016-2017 school year. The project is still under internal review before it goes before the city for approval. First Academy hopes to raise nearly $4.5 million for the project.
