One of the most anticipated recreation centers in the southern expansion of The Villages is ready for its debut.
The grand opening of Everglades Recreation Complex is scheduled for 10am Friday, Nov. 8, in the Village of Marsh Bend near the northwest corner of County Road 468 and Florida’s Turnpike, according to a news release. A ribbon-cutting ceremony starts the day, which also will include indoor demonstrations, outdoor activities, entertainment, food and prizes.
Everglades Recreation Complex is located on Marsh Bend Trail and has easy access to more than 15 miles of connected pathways.
The recreation center incorporates unique architecture, natural materials, custom photography from Everglades National Park and artifacts from national parks around the country, thevillages.com states.
The opening event will feature a Recreation Expo, demonstrations of arts, crafts and games inside, and outdoor fun at the sports pool, softball complex with four fields, multipurpose field, pond, radio-control car track and the tennis, pickleball, platform tennis, basketball, bocce and shuffleboard courts. Visitors also may walk along Hogeye Preserve Pathway to Edna’s On The Green.
