Sponsoring a civic event isn’t too scary, so the Lady Lake Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging local businesses and organizations to sponsor games and activities for its seventh annual Not Too Scary Halloween Party.
The holiday event is scheduled from 6-8pm Saturday, Oct. 21, with setup starting at 3pm, at the Junior Baseball Field next to the Lake County Fire Department, 306 W. Hermosa St., and behind the Lady Lake Public Library, according to a recent announcement by Mike Burske, parks and recreation director for the town of Lady Lake.
Last year’s party was a great success and attracted about 1,800 people, Mike says.
The responsibilities of a sponsor are to provide and staff a simple children’s game, from something as simple as a sock toss to a haunted pirate ship—it’s up to your imagination. Sponsors also should bring a good amount of candy for the children. The event will also accept donations of candy.
There is no fee to enter or sponsor a game, and sponsors may display a business or organization banner and pass out literature. This has proved to be a good low-cost form of advertising, and area residents will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the groups while participating in the games, Mike says.
Sponsors will need to bring a table for their game, if needed, and a card table to hold their candy. Mike has a few tables available, so call him if you need a table, or have any questions or ideas.
