Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Kinky Boots’ stepping onto The Sharon stage in Villages

Take a walk on the wild side this weekend—maybe in your favorite boots. Maybe even in kinky boots.

“Kinky Boots,” winner of six Tony Awards, will be staged in three performances at the Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, 1051 Main St. at Spanish Springs Town Square in The Villages. Show times are 7:30pm Saturday, Nov. 11, and 2pm and 7:30pm Sunday, Nov. 12.

With songs by pop star Cyndi Lauper (she’s so unusual), “Kinky Boots” is a joyous musical celebration about friendships and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Inspired by true events, “Kinky Boots” takes the audience from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations to continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos, thesharon.com states.

“Kinky Boots” won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Choreography, with direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (“Legally Blonde,” “Hairspray”) and a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (“La Cage Aux Folles”).

Tickets cost $50-$99 and can be purchased at thesharon.com as well as Villages box offices. Call 352.750-5411 for more information.
