Cooper Memorial Library will host a special upcoming class, “Legends, Lies & Lineages.” Ann Mohr Osisek will present this free class in genealogy at 6pm Jan. 9 at in Room 108 at the library, 2525 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont.
The presentation by Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society replaces a previously announced course, Genetic Genealogy 101, which was canceled due to the death of presenter Jim Lannin, a news release states.
Ann will speak about family stories passed down from generation to generation. This program explores the “true facts” of the oral family history by showing the researcher how to dissect the story and separate fiction from genealogical fact. Participants can learn how to analyze the details and prove the information.
Ann has been a resident of Central Florida for 44 years and taught genealogy classes for 19 years through the Orange County Adult Education Program. She is a past president of the Florida State Genealogical Society and the Central Florida Genealogical Society. She has completed courses at the Samford University Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research in Birmingham, Alabama and has been published in the FGS Forum, the APG Quarterly and numerous genealogical and historical publications, the release states.
