Clermont police to host gala honoring wounded officers

A unique and elegant event will remember fallen heroes and ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten. The Clermont Police Department and Wounded Officers Initiative are hosting a gala dinner from 5:30-9pm Saturday, April 28, at the Clermont Performing Arts Center, 3700 U.S. Highway 27 S.

The fourth annual event is part of a Heroes Weekend of activities around Orlando, as well as across the country, for law enforcement officers who have been catastrophically wounded in the line of duty, a news release states. The gala is a fundraiser to honor these heroes.

The Wounded Officers Initiative is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. The organization was founded in 2014 by four active and retired law enforcement officers from the Orlando area, according to its website. The mission of the initiative is to develop and establish national programs that help address the long-term needs of wounded law enforcement officers whose line of duty injuries have prevented them from continuing their careers. Tickets for the gala priced at $60 for individuals and $110 for couples are available at
