Clermont police, Lake sheriff’s office hit court in Battle of Badges

Members of two agencies will swap their law enforcement gear for basketball gear so they can answer a pressing question: Who’s got game?

The grudge match is on again as the seventh annual Battle of the Badges pits the Clermont Police Department against the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in a basketball game for charity—and bragging rights.

Tip-off is set for 6:30pm Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Clermont Elementary School, 680 E. Highland Ave. Admission is free, however, fans are encouraged to donate an unwrapped toy, a news release states. The Clermont police traditionally partner with Christian Men in Action to collect unwrapped toys for children in the Clermont community. Christian Men in Action will distribute the collected toys to children from 5-8pm Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, at McKinney Park, 801 Bloxam Ave., Clermont.

Organizers are hoping for a large crowd of people, not only to benefit the donations but also to cheer on local law enforcement officers on the court. Patrick Wright and Getchapraiseon Productions will emcee the event and provide the halftime show. Additionally, Getchapraiseon Productions produced this video to promote the event: youtu.be/gYwDdIhA6qI.
