Clermont’s Jennifer Pierce has been named the 2019 Florida Fire Marshal of the Year.
The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA) presented Pierce with the honor during the Florida Fire Prevention Conference Nov. 4 in Daytona Beach.
Clermont Fire Chief David Ezell shared the news with the Clermont City Council at the Nov. 12 council meeting. He also announced that Pierce was chosen to serve as the statewide director of fire marshals on the FFMIA Board of Directors.
“We congratulate her for her incredible accomplishments,” Clermont Mayor Gail Ash said in a press release. “It’s evidence of what a great job she’s doing here in Clermont.”
Pierce has over 15 years in the fire service and is active in numerous professional organizations. She was an instrumental part of the Clermont Fire Department’s international accreditation in 2018, as well as its ISO Public Protection Class rating of 2.
Pierce oversees the daily operations of the Fire Prevention Division, in addition to serving as fire marshal. This includes the review of plans for fire protection and life safety, fire inspections and investigations, and coordinating community relations.
