Out of nearly 300 facilities in the Miami Passport Region, the Lake County Clerk’s passport office was part of a small group to receive a perfect score in an audit report from the U.S. Department of State, according to local officials.
The clerk’s office received the top ranking in the Acceptance Facility Review Report regarding its work in assessing the operations for passport processing. The audit included a site visit with one-on-one interviews, facility inspections, security review, and real-time observations of passport processing with the general public.
“The employees are specially trained, and comply with a rigorous set of standards in order to be compliant with the Department of State’s requirements,” Gary Cooney, Lake County Clerk and Comptroller, said in a press release. “The employees do an outstanding job of ensuring that travel documents are provided with the utmost integrity and professionalism, which is reflected by earning this achievement.”
The Lake County Clerk’s Office has received perfect scores on all of its audits conducted since 2012. This past fiscal year, the office processed a total of 11,737 passports, according to the release/
