Clear your calendar for Saturday! Shane Greene is returning to Florida!
The kid from Clermont who has become the ace of the New York Yankees pitching staff is scheduled to pitch this Saturday, August 16 against Tampa Bay!
Tickets are still available, but don’t dilly dally, there are a lot of Yankees fans around these parts (the Friday game is already sold out). Saturday’s game starts at 4:10 p.m.
The 25-year-old Greene has been New York’s most impressive pitcher the past two months. Greene is 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.
Our other local phenom, Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, aka the pride of Umatilla, has bounced back from a poor July to raise his batting average to .309. In doing so, he remains a contender tosh National League Most Valuable Player award. Here’s hoping his tender hamstring heals and he states hot with the bat!
On the football side, the news isn’t as good.
The future is a little cloudier for former Leesburg High School graduate Danny Trevathan, who led the Denver Broncos in tackles (124) last season.
Trevathan will miss at least six weeks after fracturing his left knee in practice on Tuesday. Then again, the high-energy linebacker may return to action sooner than anyone thinks. “The doctor told me I was going to be out four to eight weeks, but I told him four to six. I’m not tripping. I will bounce back. I’m, a soldier,” Trevathan told ESPN.
