The Writers League of the Villages (WLOV) and The Villages Recreation and Parks Department are sponsoring the Central Florida Book and Author Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8, at the Eisenhower Recreation Center in The Villages, 3560 Buena Vista Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.
“I wanted this year to be the best ever and the number of exhibitors has grown 15 percent over last year with a waiting list for tables,” says Jim Meyer, the event chairman and a historical western author.
Some 92 exhibiting authors are expected at the event.
“We have them coming from as far away as Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and from all over Central Florida within one hour’s drive distance,” Jim says. “They’re also coming from places such as Kissimmee, Daytona Beach, and as close as Ocala. Many are from The Villages as well as members of WLOV, the hosting group.”
Jim believes the timing for this event is perfect for book lovers to mingle with authors and have books personally autographed. A wide selection of books for all ages will be available.
“Our idea was to have a venue before the holiday season so gift purchases could be made,” he says. “Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there. We invite everyone to participate and buy gifts at our expo. Our authors await you.”
