The Leesburg Partnership received top honors for Outstanding Special Event by both the Florida Main Street Program and the Florida Festivals and Events Association, according to a recent press release.
“Budweiser Clydesdales Come to Leesburg” was a magical, and likely, once in a lifetime event for the residents of Leesburg and Lake County. Wayne Densch the local Anheuser-Busch Distributors’ invaluable assistance in securing the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales hitch, with their well-known Dalmatian watch dog, offered folks from near and far an up close and personal experience with the famed team.
With only weeks to plan for the event, the Leesburg Partnership used a Home Town USA theme and donated proceeds to Leesburg High School Band for their fundraising efforts to go to Washington, DC.
In addition, the true Americana theme came through with beer, hot dogs, soft drinks, and popcorn for only $1.
These events that most often win this recognition are big budget with lots of fanfare, but the Clydesdales made it the perfect event.
“It is an incredible honor for the Leesburg Partnership to be recognized for best event by these two respected associations,” said Shipes. “We were able to organize very quickly and our turn-out blew Budweiser away. This event was a testament to the love felt for these animals, their rich history and everything they represent.”
