At your service: Tip a Clermont cop to raise funds for Special Olympics

Clermont police officers this evening will give new meaning to “protect and serve” when they wait tables for charity.

The Clermont Police Department, in partnership with Texas Roadhouse, will host a Tip-a-Cop fundraiser for the Special Olympics Florida organization from 4-8pm Wednesday at the restaurant, 2457 S. U.S. Highway 27, Clermont. For call-ahead seating, call the restaurant at 352.242.4441.

Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway and several of his officers will work with restaurant staff to assist in seating patrons and serving meals, a news release states. Patrons will receive a flier when they are seated that they will redeem upon ordering their meal. Texas Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of all food sales to Special Olympics Florida.

Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver, as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem, and the life skills necessary to be productive, respected, and contributing members of their communities. Fundraisers like Tip-A-Cop help to provide resources.
