Few things are as enjoyable as spending a paw-stomping, tail-wagging, fun-filled day with your dog. Perhaps you should consider attending the Humane Society of Lake County’s 10th Annual WestMUTTster Dog Show on Nov. 10 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Eustis.
For a small fee, pet owners and their dogs can enter one or all of the following competition categories: Best Kisser, Best Costume, Best Trick, Mystery Mutt (most unusual-looking dog), Wiggliest Butt, and Best Dog-Owner Look-a-Like. Other event highlights include a silent auction, a pet identification microchip clinic, and caricature portraits of you and your furry friend.
“You don’t have to enter a competition to enjoy this event,” says shelter supervisor Alice Davis. “Some people just come out to watch the dogs compete, and they enjoy seeing children getting their dogs to perform tricks. Pet owners love interacting with other pet owners because they can share stories and ideas.”
This is the largest fundraiser for the Humane Society of Lake County, which is a no-kill shelter. The Umatilla-based shelter spends approximately $30,000 each year on veterinary care and food for its animals.
