5 precincts have new polling sites, Lake elections chief announces

Voters in five Lake County precincts should be aware that the locations of their polling places have changed. The county’s Supervisor of Elections Office announced changes that will go into effect for the Nov. 7 municipal elections.

The following precincts will have new polling places:

Precinct 79

New polling place: Clermont Arts & Recreation Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27, Clermont.

Previous polling place: Sundance Apartments.

Precincts 23 and 80

New polling place: Hope International Church, 13806 State Road 33, Groveland.

Previous polling place for 23: Puryear Building. Previous polling place for 80: Edge Memorial Methodist Church.

Precincts 20 and 66

New polling place: First Baptist Church Family Ministry Center, 1000 E. 1st Ave., Mount Dora.

Previous polling place for 20: City Building, Palm Island. Previous polling place for 66: St. Edward’s Episcopal Church.

(Precincts 20 and 66 were consolidated into the Precinct 58 polling place).

Voters affected by these changes will receive updated voter information cards denoting their new polling place location. On Election Day, signs at the old polling places will direct voters to the new locations.

“We are continually striving to enhance the Election Day experience for our voters,” Supervisor of Elections Alan Hays says in a news release. “The new locations offer more parking options and, in some instances where we consolidated precinct polling places, a more cost-effective and efficient option for our citizens of Lake County.”
