LEESBURG— Twelve Lake County schools will be recognized at Monday’s School Board meeting for receiving the state’s Five Star School Award.
The winning schools are Clermont, Eustis Heights, Fruitland Park, Groveland, Lost Lake, Pine Ridge, Round Lake Elementary Conversion Charter, Sawgrass Bay, Seminole Springs, Sorrento, and Triangle elementary schools, and Imagine Schools at South Lake.
The award was created by the Florida Education Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council to highlight the importance of community involvement to student success. The Educational Foundation of Lake County serves as the liaison to the state Department of Education for the award.
To qualify, a school must demonstrate exceptional performance in community/business partnerships, family involvement, strong volunteer efforts, student community service, and school advisory council.
